![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) atommickbraneface gave me some things to write about and as it's a lovely sunny day and i am but a handful of work hours before ALL TEH WORK IN TEH WORLD falls on top of me (there is like 0 prep i can do for this either which is even more annoying) it's meme time:
Internet tshirts
going clothes shopping is BORING and since the advent of threadless etc, UNNEEDED when i can buy a high quality range of hilarious t-shirts with the click of a mouse. lots of people say to me "hey, that's a cool t-shirt" so it must be working. i really need to buy more dinosaur comics t-shirts though, particularly the mr tusks one as i did kind of lobby for it...
Art
art is GREAT. even rubbish art is GREAT because it shows how good the good stuff is, as articulating why stuff is rubbish is as important (and frankly often a hundred times easier) as why stuff is good). this year i have been FAILING at art though, due mainly to laziness. my favourite way to see art:
1. leave house with A-Z
2. buy time out
3. go to hoxton
4. on bus to hoxton work out what sounds like fun and plot a route using your A-Z
5. make sure the route includes some pubs and, ideally, some friends (although the pub/art ratio is often hard to get right and accidentally sitting in a dodgy boozer halfway to mile end watching hooky premiership football for three hours can occasionally happen)
the art i like that doesn't have people in it is Things That Are Made Out Of Other Things, also i like film/video and printing. i don't like painting and i don't like photography, unless it's really really cool.
the art that i like that has people in it is mainly this lot but i think you all know that by now (new show Void Story at the soho 21-25th april as part of Spill, where i shall TRY to go and see some other people but probably end up not)
Your bestest DIY eggsperiment
i still think the thrill i got from putting up the shelves in the lounge might be my best DIY moment. simple, yes, but pure. i went to the wood shop and bought some bits of wood and some brackets from a proper tradesman, and then put them up and they are solid and level. tiling (a small part of) the kitchen was more of a pain in the arse to be honest. actually, getting away with totally drilling the holes for atommickbrane's chalk board very badly (should've been slightly further apart) was a very lucky experiment!!
Seeing Live Comedy
i don't go to a lot of comedy in comparison to some people, but i do like it when i go. i like people who are lovely and don't shout at the audience and also tell stories. this means i hate jason byrne. i still find how the dynamics of comedy "fame" work a little odd though. and by this i mean "how can russell howard fill wembley arena????" and "how can mark watson sell 800 tickets a night in edinburgh??" i mean i love them both, but they're not really famous are they? are they?
Seeing the Divine Comedy ho ho ho ho (have you)?
Unsurprisingly, yes i have seen the divine comedy. slightly oddly it was at a book festival in, i think, hereford (i don't think it was hay as that's too far from cheltenham), in a tent. they were rubbish because Hannon, N. has only ever written about three choruses, but they did do "songs of love" off of father ted.
